Career Tools

As part of the LMI for All service, we offer two free and easy-to-use widgets – Careerometer and Skillsometer – designed to support young people and others in exploring careers and accessing key labour market information.

These widgets can be embedded directly into your website and provide interactive, engaging ways to help users discover possible career paths and learn more about different job roles.

  • Skillsometer helps users reflect on their skills and interests by responding to a series of statements. Based on their answers, the tool suggests job roles they may enjoy, along with key facts about each role.

  • Careerometer allows users to explore and compare jobs by typing in job titles and accessing useful information such as average pay, typical working hours, and future employment prospects. It’s a great way to support informed career decisions.

Both tools are free, accessible, and widely used across schools, colleges, and career services across the UK. Instructions and embedding code for each widget, along with personalisation options, are available below.

Skillsometer

Not sure what kind of job might suit you? Skillsometer is here to help. This free and easy-to-use tool, provided by the LMI for All service, is designed for anyone who’s unsure about their career direction and wants to explore possibilities based on their own skills and interests.

Simply take the quick quiz, where you’ll be asked to respond to a series of statements about what you enjoy or feel unsure about. These statements are grouped into six well-known occupational categories – Artistic, Realistic, Investigative, Conventional, Enterprising, and Social.

Based on your answers, Skillsometer will generate a personalised list of job suggestions that align with your interests. Each suggested job comes with useful information like typical pay, working hours, and a job description – giving you a snapshot of what that career could look like.

Once you’ve got your shortlist, you can dive deeper into each role or compare jobs using the Careerometer for even more insight.

Whether you’re starting out or simply exploring your options, Skillsometer is a great first step towards finding a career that fits you.
