There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but in order to optimise their chances of success, a learner will ideally hold a Level 2 qualification or equivalent in beauty therapy.

This qualification may lead directly into employment as a senior beauty therapist in a beauty salon or spa or to self-employment as a mobile beauty therapist.

The Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a substantial vocational qualification that will confirm your competence as a beauty therapist.

This qualification is designed for learners who wish to gain employment as a beauty therapist, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role.

 This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty therapist including, mandatory units covering the following:

 Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon

  • Provide Body Massage
  • Promote and sell products and services to clients

You will also have the opportunity to consider, to further develop your understanding and skills by undertaking specialist units, which may include:

 Maintaining Personal Health and Wellbeing

  • Apply stone therapy massage
  • Apply Individual Permanent Lashes
  • Provide self-tanning

 The structure of this qualification provides you with the flexibility to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills required to become a beauty therapist. Throughout this qualification, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant treatments, health and safety, and client care.

You will also develop a range of technical skills in preparing the skin, and applying massage therapy products and equipment to the skin, using a variety of different techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

Throughout this qualification, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and beauty products and equipment.

Develop a range of technical skills enabling you to provide a variety of beauty therapy treatments using different techniques. Along with interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

Throughout the qualification, you will develop new skills, which you will need to demonstrate, through the presentation of different forms of evidence, that you can meet the requirements and standards of each unit, within the qualification:

  • Your performance will be observed by your assessor when providing practical treatments
  • You will complete projects and written assignments
  • Respond to oral or written questions
  • Complete client record cards, detailing the treatments, and takings photographs demonstrating the skills you have gained
