The Level 3 Diploma in Business and Management is a 120-credit Ofqual regulated qualification and is the equivalent level to an A-Level or Access to HE qualification.

This qualification is designed for learners who are working, or would like to work, in a business
administration role within any sector or industry.

It’s ideal for those who are new to the role or who’ve
been working at that level for a short period of time.

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 2 qualification.

Registration is at the discretion of the centre, in accordance with equality legislation, and should be
made on the Portal.

However, learners should be aged 16 or above to undertake this qualification.

Centres are responsible for ensuring that this qualification is appropriate for the age and ability of
learners. They need to make sure that learners can fulfil the requirements of the assessment criteria and
comply with the relevant literacy, numeracy, and health and safety aspects of this qualification.

Learners registered on this qualification shouldn’t undertake another qualification at the same level with the same or a similar title, as duplication of learning may affect funding eligibility.

The primary purpose of the Level 3 Diploma in Business and Management is to support your progression to higher education, specifically to a business relating course.

Key features of the qualifications include:

  • Core units that are common to different sectors offering the opportunity for learners to move between sectors or delay decisions as to which area to specialise in
  • Small qualifications that can be used for professional development for those in employment or for learners who do not have the time to undertake a full-time programme
  • Flexible methods of assessment allowing tutors to select the most appropriate methods for their learners

Entry & Progression

Learners who are seeking to progress to higher education to take a Bachelor’s degree course in Management. Learners could also progress directly to employment. Successful completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Business qualification enables learners’ direct entry to BA (Hons) Business Studies degree or into Year 1 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree or pursue Level 4 Diplomas whilst also enhancing their career prospects, within existing roles, or with new opportunities.
